Adobe photo-shop is the software that’s only devotion is to accomplish the editing needs of the photographers. It deals with the editing of the images with the only motive that is to make them excelling in their looks. Every type of image is photo-shopped with the help of the software to make it perfect by removing all the flaws from it. The image flaws that bother the eyes of the viewers are edited in this software. Today I am also sharing the techniques that help the editor to cut out the hair strands from the images by using the mask feature. This is the effective feature that separates the fur and hair from your image subject. Read the techniques below

Selection of files and channels

To extract the fur or hair from the background you have to first select the target photo image. If you want to sharp your retouching skills then you can practice it on the simple portraits. The step goes like selection of windows and then channels that have compelling contrast. Make sure that the contrast must be between the selection and the other is the area you choose to leave out. The Duplicate channel is selected from the channel panel menu that will elicit you to name the channel mask and last is click ok.

Make Adjustments

By selecting the alpha mask from the channel panel you can make various adjustments in the images. The steps for this are go to image then adjustments and then levels. Now use the drag and input sliders to adjust the mid tones, shadows and highlights in images. Be careful you have to select the subject of your photo with the subject. You will get the idea about the selected area and the unselected area from the white and black colour respectively. And the partly selected area will appear in the grey shade for your distinction. Click ok at last when you feel satisfied. End up with closing the level dialog box.

Tweaking

This allows you to use the eraser tool for improving the mask appearance and also making the desired adjustments in the images. You can move ahead with the help of block mode that is feasible in the option bar. Now paint the mask to remove all the feathered edges.

Colour sorting

The next goes for colour sorting. Click D to approach the default colours. You have to carefully select the colour as the eraser tool will paint that selected colour. If the need arises to switch the foreground and the background then you easily can do it by pressing X.

Touch-up details

Here at this step it is advised to use the short strokes for mask painting using the black and white colours as it will help in undo if you want to do at later stage anytime. You need to perform the undo option most probably while painting as this is the most error committing area. To complete your works faster zoom out the area and paint it with the block eraser if you are using it. This will help you to paint the large area in less time.  Leaving some grey colour around the slender areas will defeat the chances of the grey colour to cut off from the original image.

Polishing

Now the turn is to load the mask. You can do this by going to the bottom of the channel panel and by clicking on the first icon. This will highlight your mask with selection marquee and the image will get the selection outline when you click on the RGB channel. If you want to invert the image selection then use invert option.

Save your work

Once you are done with the project of removing hair or fur form the main subject of the photo and when you get the satisfied results you can save your work at the last.
